Hurricane IAN (10/15/22)

It is hard to believe that we are approaching almost three weeks since Hurricane Ian hit beautiful S.W. Florida. with a direct hit to Lee County. Our communities, livelihoods, homes, businesses, along with the places so many enjoy and love have been devastated.

First, we want to assure everyone that all staff and families of Kenoyer Real Estate and its managed resorts are safe and accounted for. Many were greatly affected by this tragedy and our hearts go out to each and every one of them.

The business office as well as all KRE managed resorts took on substantial storm surge flooding and wind damage, therefore, we are doing our best to work remotely for the time being conducting everyday business and assesssing the damage with the insurance adjusters, etc. in order to begin the recovery process. Although most of us were without electricity, water, internet, phones for quite some time, we now have the ability to receive phone calls as well as emails.

In the future specific details on the status of each resort will be provided by your respective properties (resort managers) through their website and/or facebook page.

Again, we thank you for your continued understanding and patience while we recover from this difficult time. Unfortunately, this will not be a “quick” turnaround. Your prayers and support are most welcomed and very much appreciated!!

Wildlife Society

Wildlife_1Sanibel and Captiva Islands has large variety of Florida Wildlife including birds, alligators and dolphins. Our islands provide a nature vacation for the entire family from the avid nature lover to the budding naturalist.

wildlife_2Nowhere is this natural state more breathtaking than at the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge, established in 1945. Encompassing more than 5,000 acres, this spectacular wildlife refuge lies on the north side of Sanibel Island. It provides nesting sites for over 200 species of birds, many of them threatened or endangered, and is also an ecological system that is sanctuary for a wide variety of wildlife, including alligators, turtles, river otters, armadillos, and rabbits.

wildlife_3The refuge is named for Jay Norwood “Ding” Darling of New York, a Pulitzer prize-winning cartoonist and a life-long environmentalist. Darling once headed the US Biological Survey and was instrumental in establishing more than 300 sanctuaries across the United States. Many of Sanibel’s local establishments highlight the cartoon art of Darling, which focused on the visiting and local ‘shellers’ who came to the islands.

Besides a first-rate Visitor Center, open Saturday through Thursday, the refuge offers an observation tower, nature trails, and a two-hour guided tour via tram.
